Visit Nepal Year 2020 brand identity was revealed on June 27 in a programme hosted by Suraj Vaidya and VNY 2020 Secretariat

June 27 at 5:00 pm, a programme to celebrate the launch of Visit Nepal Year 2020 brand identity was organised by National Coordinator of VNY 2020, Suraj Vaidya and VNY 2020 Secretariat in the Regal Ballroom at Hotel Yak & Yeti. The event was attended by current and former ministers, foreign diplomats, stakeholders of Nepal Travel Trade Association, the upper echelons of the tourism industry and media.

The programme started off with an opening speech from National Coordinator of VNY 2020, Suraj Vaidya. In the speech he spoke about what Nepal is and the things that identify us; natural beauty, lifestyle, food, art and colours, et cetera  and how to combine all that into a brand identity. Right before the moment of unveiling of the VNY 2020 brand identity Vaidya said, “Brand is not something engineered, it is a reflection of our daily life, our values, our traditions. Going back to the basics, Nepal is truly a unique destination.”

Before the brand identity was revealed, all the VIP guests were called up on the stage for candle lighting ceremony. Finally the brand identity for the VNY 2020 was unveiled, it was a five-letter simple design that represented the country more than anything else — ‘nepal’ in white text with a red tika on top of it and a yellow background.

The event then proceeded with a presentation from the Marie Ange Sylvain-Holmgren, Founder/ Creative Director of Image Ark, the agency behind the design of the brand identity. In her presentation, Marie Ange, showed the ways this brand identity will be used with colourful illustrations, ticking off all the questions: how to use, where to use and when to use.

Former Home Minister and Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Mohan Krishna Sapkota was called on stage to give a speech. Sapkota said, “Tourism industry is the most potential sector that our government can invest in.” He further listed the infrastructural development that is being carried out in the country for the preparation of VNY 2020. National Coordinator of VNY 2020, Suraj Vaidya presented Mohan Krishna Sapkota with the VNY 2020 ‘Brand Guideline Book’.

The programme came to an end after a short video message from the Prime Minister, K.P Sharma Oli was played. After the formal programme the guests networked and mingled.
