The 15th Kora Cycling Challenge returns on 19 July 2025, uniting over 5,500 riders across Nepal and beyond in a community-driven charity ride to support solar energy for marginalized communities.

Nepal’s largest charity cycling event, the Kora Cycling Challenge, returns for its milestone 15th edition on Saturday, 19 July 2025. With more than 5,500 riders expected to participate across over 20 locations in Nepal and internationally, the event continues to grow in both impact and reach.

Cyclists from Australia, Laos, Canada, Scotland, Singapore, and other countries will join thousands across Nepal to ride for a cause. From 2 km rides for kids in Patan to the challenging 165 km Ultra Ride around the Kathmandu Valley, riders can choose from 25K, 50K, 75K, 100K, and 165K loops—each distance contributing to community-driven fundraising efforts.

First conceptualized in 2011 by socialtours, the Kora Challenge is now co-organised by Cycle City Network Nepal and Pangro Outdoor Events, with local organisers leading efforts in their respective cities and countries. This decentralised model highlights the event’s community-led ethos, inspiring grassroots participation and support worldwide.

This year’s national fundraising focus is to install solar home systems for a marginalised Danuwar community near Melamchi Bazaar in Sindhupalchowk. Local chapters of the ride will also raise funds for causes selected by their own communities, further emphasizing the event’s inclusive and locally-rooted mission.

In Kathmandu, the Kora Cycling Challenge is proudly backed by Nagbahal Tol Sudhar Samiti, BYD, Tshirt Nepal, Turkish Airlines, and B&B Hospital, with Himalayan Everest Insurance providing national insurance coverage and Vidhi Legal Concern offering legal support throughout Nepal.

The Kathmandu ride will officially begin at 7:30 AM from Patan Durbar Square with the 100K and 75K riders, followed closely by the 50K loop. All rides conclude at Nagbahal, where the year-long Buddha Jayanti celebration lends spiritual resonance to the event’s final stretch.

With cycling, community, and cause at its core, the 15th Kora Cycling Challenge is poised to once again demonstrate the power of collective action and the joy of riding for something bigger than ourselves.
