Where to Eat Well in Pokhara This Week

Monday Eateries

3, Aug 2026 | nepaltraveller.com

Mondays in Pokhara do not have to mean settling for whatever is closest. The city's Lakeside strip and Middle Path area are packed with eateries that are just as good on the first day of the week as they are on a Saturday night, and a few of them are actually better early in the week, before the weekend crowds show up.

Mike's Old Kitchen is the classic pick for anyone easing into the week after a trek. Set right on the lake near Hotel Fewa in Central Lakeside, it is known for hearty breakfasts and Mexican-leaning comfort food like nachos, burritos and quesadillas, most of it made with vegetables from its own garden. A slow breakfast here, with the lake right in front of you, is about as gentle a Monday as Pokhara gets.

Sun Welcome, tucked away on Baidam Road in North Lakeside, is the opposite kind of morning. It is a no-frills spot that locals genuinely recommend for a cheap, filling breakfast. Bring a book, order tea and eggs, and let the morning move slowly.

Fresh Elements on Middle Path Street works well once the day picks up. It leans Italian and Mediterranean, with a clean, cosy setting that suits either a working lunch or a longer sit-down meal, and it has built a loyal following among both residents and repeat visitors to Pokhara.

Rosemary Kitchen is worth the walk for its garden setting alone, an open-air space that feels more like Bali than Nepal. The menu mixes local and Western dishes, and the vegetarian momo in particular gets consistent praise from travellers who stop in for lunch or an early dinner.

For something with a view built into the meal, Krishna's Kitchen at Khapaundi Cove serves Thai food, papaya salad, curries and tom yum among them, from a garden that faces the lake. Paragliders drift down toward Phewa Lake in the late afternoon, which makes this a good choice if your Monday stretches into evening.

If you want to close the day with something different, AoZoRa, a bamboo-lined Japanese restaurant, does sushi, ramen and donburi sets, including chicken teriyaki with miso and pickle. It is a reliable option when you have had enough dal bhat and momos for one week and want a change of pace without leaving Pokhara.

None of these need a reservation on a Monday, and most sit within a short walk of each other around Lakeside, so it is entirely possible to string two or three of them into one unhurried day of eating your way through the city.

A practical note for anyone planning to hop between a few of these: Lakeside is compact enough to cover on foot, and this stretch of eateries covers a wide price range, from Sun Welcome's cheap breakfast plates to the pricier sit-down meals at places like AoZoRa. Go early for breakfast at Old Mike's or Sun Welcome, keep lunch light at Fresh Elements or Rosemary Kitchen, and save Krishna's Kitchen or AoZoRa for whichever end of the day you have more time to enjoy.
