Airlines are competing to attract passengers on the mountain flight, which began eight months after the shutdown. Leading private sector airline Buddha Air and Yeti Airlines have come up with special discounts and 'offers' on-mountain flights. Both airlines have announced that they will provide one ticket free of cost.
Airlines have announced their discount packages targeting domestic tourists at a time when the number of foreign tourists has not increased due to the Covid-19 epidemic. The two airlines will formally operate mountain flights from December 5, the company said in a separate statement today. There will be mountain flights every Saturday.
Buddha Air has already started mountain flights from Saturday, October 27. There were 18 passengers on the flight. Buddha Air, which has resumed mountaineering flights after the shutdown, has stated that it will start regular mountaineering flights from next Saturday with the objective of making tourism in a stable state dynamic.
Even though Yati Airlines is preparing to start from today, the company has mentioned that another date has been fixed due to some technical reasons. Yeti Airlines has made a special offer on-mountain flights to promote domestic tourism. It also said that one ticket will be available for free with the purchase of another. Sudarshan Bartaula, head and spokesperson of the flight safety department of Yati Airlines, said that the offer was brought with the objective of making the tourism sector operational by attracting passengers of domestic flights.
Yeti has mentioned in a press release that it will operate a mountain flight every Saturday from November 8 with the message of 'Singing Nepali Gatha and watching one's own Everest'. The company said that the flight to Everest will be launched at a discounted price and bookings can be made through the nearest ticket counter and through the travel agency, website or mobile app. Yeti has fixed a fare of Rs 8,999 for mountain flights.
The mountain flight will take about an hour. Starting from Tribhuvan Airport, this flight offers a panoramic view of Mount Everest, Makalu, Nuptse, Gaurishankar and other mountain ranges. Entrepreneurs have said that this is a great offer for those who cannot go on foot. Buddha Air has also fixed Rs 8,900 for mountain flights. It will provide another seat with window (without window) for free. The company has stated that this offer will be available only to Nepali citizens for the time being.
