Hong Kong’s home airline continues to raise the bar for excellence in customer experience

Cathay Pacific has been named one of the world’s top three airlines in the 2025 Skytrax World Airline Awards, climbing two places from last year. The airline also received top honors as the World’s Best Economy Class Airline for the second year in a row and World’s Best Inflight Entertainment, marking its second win in three years in this category.

Chief Executive Officer Ronald Lam said: "Being voted among the top three best airlines in the world, up two places from last year, and the world’s best for Economy class and inflight entertainment again is extremely encouraging. These accolades underscore our unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional service and enhancing the customer experience across every part of their journey.

“We are grateful for the incredible support of our customers, and the dedication of our people across Cathay. These awards will inspire and motivate us to keep raising the bar as we strive to become one of the world’s greatest service brands.”

Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Lavinia Lau was at the Skytrax World Airline Awards in Paris representing Cathay Pacific to accept the awards.

The recognition comes as Cathay Pacific advances a bold transformation strategy, with over HK$100 billion being invested in fleet modernization, cabin upgrades, digital enhancements, and premium lounges—solidifying Hong Kong’s role as a global aviation hub.

Over the past year, Cathay Pacific has continued to enhance the travel experience for its passengers, most prominently through the launch of its new Aria Suite Business Class, updated Premium Economy, and refreshed Economy cabins introduced aboard its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in October of last year. Passengers can currently enjoy these upgraded cabins on select routes connecting Hong Kong with London, Sydney, and Vancouver, with additional destinations being added over time.

Cathay Pacific has also collaborated with Michelin-starred restaurants to craft specially curated menus available on select departures from Hong Kong. This includes modern interpretations of French classics by Louise and elevated Cantonese cuisine by Duddell’s for First and Business Class, as well as refined Cantonese offerings by Yat Tung Heen for Premium Economy and Economy cabins.

In April of this year, the airline launched its new “Chinese Classics” inflight dining series, adding to its existing “Hong Kong Flavours” and “International Favourites” menus. Highlighting the depth of China’s culinary heritage, these new “Chinese Classics” are being gradually introduced in Business Class, starting with select flights from Hong Kong to cities in the Chinese Mainland.

Meanwhile, Cathay Pacific is set to become one of the few airlines worldwide to provide complete seatback inflight entertainment and Wi-Fi access across every cabin and aircraft starting this August.

The airline’s advanced inflight entertainment system has been recognized with several prestigious design awards, praised for its innovative and user-centric design focused on passenger comfort and an intuitive graphical interface.

Cathay Pacific was also the first airline globally to feature 4K and 4K HDR10 content, delivering a wider color spectrum onboard for a more engaging, enjoyable, and intuitive viewing experience.

With the largest inflight entertainment library in the Asia-Pacific region, Cathay Pacific refreshes its selection monthly, giving travelers access to premier content—including Hollywood blockbusters, exclusive Asian films, Paramount+ and iQiyi dramas, critically acclaimed TV series, music albums, podcasts, games, select Disney+ Originals, and Cathay’s own original Cathay productions.

On the ground, the airline is undertaking a major lounge revitalization initiative in Hong Kong and abroad. Just last month, Cathay Pacific reopened its redesigned lounge, The Bridge, at Hong Kong International Airport. In the coming years, the airline plans to unveil new flagship lounges in Hong Kong, Beijing, and for the first time, New York in the coming years.
