The number of coronavirus cases in Karnali State has gone up with dozens of new cases in recent days. However, people seem less scared of the virus as compared to the past.
Likewise, the lockdown order imposed to contain the spread of the virus is less effective in the districts of Karnali State resulting in an increased number of new cases of coronavirus infection.
On Wednesday, 24 people in the State tested positive for the virus while the number was 27 on Tuesday. A member of the Karnali State Assembly was also tested positive for the virus on Tuesday. With this, the number of infected individuals in Karnali reached 714, according to Dr Laxmi Narayan Tiwari, Chief of Health Service Division of Ministry of Social Development of the State.
Director of Karnali State Hospital in Surkhet Dr Dambar Khadka said that the virus has spread at the community level due to the carelessness of people.
Recently, the virus is seen at the community level as well besides those India returnee migrant workers, he added. People of all sectors should apply maximum precautions against this situation, he cautioned.
