An electric minibus has been brought into operation on long routes for the first time in the country. Shree Bhawalaxmi Investment Company Pvt Ltd launched the electric minibus service. The electric minibus would provide service from Kathmandu to Manthali of Ramechhap district every day.

Former Prime Minister and senior leader of the Nepal Communist Party, Madhav Kumar Nepal, inaugurated the service amidst a function today. Two minibuses have headed towards Manthali from Koteshwor today.

On the occasion, leader Nepal said that the operation of electric vehicles would help maintain the environment as well as would help in national economy by displacing the imported diesel and petrol.

He further said that there would be no problem of electricity consumption in coming days if the power could be utilized for commercial purpose.

Saying it would not be appropriate to impose tax on electric vehicles at a time when most countries in the world have given priority to electric vehicles, Nepal urged the government to make policy-level arrangements in order to encourage operation of electric vehicles.

NB Green Tech International Pvt Ltd has brought the 20-seat electric mini buses from China.
