The forest fire that broke out and spread in the Shivapuri Nagarjun National area in Kathmandu on Sunday has been brought under control.

The forest fire that broke out and spread in the Shivapuri Nagarjun National area in Kathmandu on Sunday has been brought under control. 

A helicopter was mobilized to contain the forest fire that had erupted at Taulung of Budhanilakanth Municipality-1 in Kathmandu, said Anil Pokharel, Chief Executive Officer of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.

Pokharel shared that a Bambi bucket with a capacity of 1,000 liters of water had ferried altogether 25,000 litres of water to extinguish the forest fire. 

Earlier, the locals and security personnel from the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal, and concerned authorities, among others had tried to contain the fire. The helicopter used water from the pond made to filter the water of the Melamchi Drinking Water Project at Sundarijal.
