Fifty two people have died from COVID-19 and more than 8,000 COVID-19 infection cases have been detected in State 2. Of all the eight districts in the state battling the infection, Parsa has suffered the most with 25 deaths reported.

Dhanusa reported nine deaths from the virus. Bara recorded six deaths, Saptari four, Rautahat three, Mahottari and Siraha two each and Sarlahi one, according to the Ministry of Social Development of the state.

All eight districts share the border with India. And despite mobility of people across the border being restricted, people are entering Nepal illegally through the transits, local people said.

Until August 20, 8063 infection cases have been detected in the State. Of the infected, 3,984 have been recovered and 3,895 are receiving treatment, said the Ministry.

There are 13,748 beds in 217 quarantine facilities in the State with 1327 people kept in quarantine on suspicion of being infected and 2,188 in home-quarantine facility. Likewise, 461 have been kept in isolation and 762 in home-isolation.
