Bidding a hectic weekday goodbye with a pleasant Friday night - spent listening to soothing music and enjoying good food sounds perfect. That is what I went to experience the previous Friday at Ghar-e-Kabab, inside the premises of Hotel Annapurna. And trust me, it does not get any better than that. The ambiance was warm and homely, the staffs were very amiable and the food was top notch.
For the entire month of January, Ghar-e-Kabab is organizing an ideal Friday night, with live music by Bishwa Nepali couple with a delicious serving of Indian food. Each Friday is named after iconic Indian musicians whose songs Bishwa Nepali will be singing throughout the evening. For instance the previous Friday, the melodious singer was tuning into the soothing words and rhythms of Jagjit Singh that is sure to bring back a flood of memories from the past, for some people who grew up listening to the singer.
The food was exquisite and flavourful – while the Chef amiably suggested a three-course meal. The appetizers start off with fragrant Kebabs brought straight out of the skewers, which was available in either Chicken, Fish or Mutton according to one’s preference. The Kebabs has just the right amount of spice, tastes divine when dipped with some green chili sauce and leaves a smoky aftertaste on the tongue.
While exactly at 7:30 the musicians starts tuning in their instruments and five minutes later the hall is filled to the brim with the melodious voice of Bishwa Nepali – that sets the mood in the restaurant alight. Time passes really fast when you seem to enjoy everything so much, before I know it it’s nearly nine and our server suggests the Main Course which consists of some staple rice, Roti, Chicken Curry and Dal Makhani. We were almost full with the delicious Kebabs, but the tempting look of the food is enough to entice us even with an almost full stomach.
At the end of the night, we are satisfied with how the night rolled on with good food, pleasant music, and a calming ambiance. If you’re looking for a perfect way to unwind from the stress of the week, than don’t miss out the weekly event this month at Hotel Annapurna!
