Santa Claus: The Mythical Figure

Children expect Santa Claus to bring them gifts when they hang their red socks near the fireplace, or simply in their bedrooms.

Santa Claus, also called Father Christmas, Saint Nicholas, Saint Nick, Kris Kringle, or simply Santa, is a mythical figure that first appeared in the Christian culture. He is said to bring presents to children on the Christmas Eve in the late evening or the next morning. As presents, he brings them toys, candies or nothing, depending on whether they have been naughty or nice throughout the year.

According to the myth, Santa delivers presents to all the children with the help of his flying reindeer, who pull his sleigh through the air. The Christmas elves create the presents in their workshop, which is believed to be at the North Pole.

Santa Claus is typically portrayed as a large, cheerful, white-bearded man who is dressed in a red coat with white fur collar and cuffs, red pants, a red hat with white fur, and black leather belt and boots. He also typically carries a large bag filled with gifts. He also appears to laugh in a way that sounds like “Ho Ho Ho.”

This image became quite popular in the US and Canada in the 19th century due to the influence of the 1823 poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas”. The custom also holds that Santa carries the gifts down the chimney.

Children expect Santa Claus to bring them gifts when they hang their red socks near the fireplace, or simply in their bedrooms. Additionally, it’s said that Santa can deliver a larger gift if you have bigger socks.

However, in reality, the children have written down the names of any gifts they would like, and on Christmas Eve, their parents bring the requested gifts and hide them inside their socks, or even at the side of the Christmas tree, and the kids think that Santa delivered them their gifts. But regardless of myth or fact, everyone looks forward to receiving a gift on Christmas.
