Potala Palace

Jokhang Temple

Around the Barkar street/square lies the historic Jokhang Temple. Historically Jokhang Temple is the most revered and intensely spiritual sacred monastery in Tibet because of its important role in the development of Buddhism in Tibet. More importantly, the Jokhang Temple houses the one-of-a-kind treasure of world Buddhism. The Jokhang Temple is 1300 years old. Jokhang Temple has amazing architecture to observe as well. 

Yamdrok Lake 

Yamdrok Lake is a freshwater lake in Tibet, it is one of the three largest sacred lakes in Tibet. The lake has beautiful blue water and is surrounded by snow-capped mountains. There are various things to try such as hiking around the lake, bird watching, if you visit during autumn or winter as the small island in the lake, supports the birds’ migration. There are few monasteries and small towns around which you can visit. 

MT Kailash

As religiously important for both Hinduism and Buddhism, Mount Kailash is one of the popular pilgrimages destination. As Mt Kailash is not allowed to climb many people take a circuit tour of the mountain. There is spectacular scenery and Mansarover Lake as well.
