Himalaya Airlines, a prominent international carrier in Nepal, has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first and only IOSA-registered operator in the country. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) granted Himalaya Airlines the IOSA certification on December 28, 2023, valid until March 3, 2025.

The IOSA certificate affirms that Himalaya Airlines adheres to the highest safety standards and industry best practices, ensuring a secure and reliable travel experience for passengers. This recognition positions Himalaya Airlines as a leader in safety, receiving international acclaim for its commitment to operational excellence. The rigorous IOSA audit process evaluates and enhances various aspects of the airline's operations, contributing to efficiency, risk management, and overall performance.

Vijay Shrestha, Vice President of Himalaya Airlines, expressed enthusiasm during a media address, stating, "This milestone signifies a positive shift in Nepal's aviation industry. We are proud to set new benchmarks for safety and operational excellence, demonstrating our commitment to maintaining the highest standards. This certification not only validates our ongoing efforts but also establishes us as a trusted airline in the global aviation community. We look forward to continually raising the bar in the years to come."

Ms. Nabina Karmacharya, Deputy Director General of the Aviation Safety and Security Regulation Directorate, praised Himalaya Airlines for its exceptional dedication to safety, leading to the prestigious IOSA certification. She emphasized that this achievement has strengthened trust and confidence among passengers, significantly contributing to the growth and development of air travel in Nepal.

The IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) is a globally recognized program developed by IATA to assess the operational management and control systems of airlines. This standardized audit involves a thorough examination of an airline's policies, procedures, and practices through document reviews and on-site assessments. The successful completion of the audit and compliance with all findings led to IOSA certification, which is considered a mark of safety excellence and a prerequisite for IATA membership.
