How does your role at Hotel Yak and Yeti align with your values and vision for Nepal’s hospitality?

In my role as Director of Sales at Hotel Yak and Yeti, I aim to align the hotel’s growth strategies with my core values of service excellence, authenticity, and sustainability. Nepal’s hospitality sector is known for its rich cultural heritage, and I strive to integrate that into every guest interaction and sales initiative. My vision is to elevate Nepali hospitality by focusing on personalized experiences, building strong local and international relationships. I firmly believe in the potential of Nepali hospitality to be globally recognized, and I am committed to playing a key role in positioning Hotel Yak and Yeti as a leader in this space.

What do you see as the biggest challenges and opportunities for Nepal’s hospitality industry?

One of the biggest challenges facing Nepal’s hospitality industry is the issue of infrastructure development, particularly in more remote or rural areas. While Nepal offers an abundance of natural beauty and rich culture, some regions still face challenges with accessibility, roads, and facilities that meet international standards. Additionally, the industry is highly dependent on international tourism, which can be impacted by global events, political instability, and changing travel preferences. On the flip side, there is tremendous opportunity in the rise of eco- tourism and experiential travel. Nepal’s unique combination of adventure tourism, spiritual retreats, and cultural heritage offers immense potential for growth. The demand for sustainable, responsible tourism is growing, and Nepal is in a strong position to capitalize on this by promoting eco-friendly practices and showcasing its incredible natural resources. Furthermore, with the development of better infrastructure, the potential for expanding tourism beyond the traditional routes is vast, opening up new markets and segments.

What personal achievement are you most proud of, and how did it shape you?

I am most proud of the work I did in transitioning from a sales and marketing role into the leadership position of Director of Sales at Hotel Yak and Yeti. This was a significant achievement because it required me to not only leverage my industry experience but also develop strong leadership, strategic thinking, and team management skills. This experience taught me the importance of being adaptable, decision-making under pressure, and empowering my team to take ownership of their roles.

How do you maintain work-life balance in the demanding hospitality industry?

Maintaining work-life balance in the hospitality industry can be challenging, given the demanding nature of the job. However, I believe that a balance is crucial for both personal well-being and professional success. I achieve this by being intentional with my time management, setting clear priorities, and learning to delegate effectively.

What unique experience would you recommend to a first-time visitor to Nepal, and why?

I would highly recommend a trek to Pokhara and the Annapurna region for a first- time visitor to Nepal. This area offers a perfect combination of stunning natural beauty, adventure, and cultural immersion. Visitors can experience breathtaking mountain views, serene lakes, and lush forests, with the iconic Annapurna and Machapuchare peaks in the backdrop.
