Marble Danda is situated in the Godawari Municipality, approximately 20 kilometers south of Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital. The site lies on a hilltop area known as ‘Danda,’ which means ridge or hill in Nepali. The place is named after a marble processing factory that once operated there, giving it the name “Marble Danda.” Though the factory is no longer functional, remainings of the old marble works can still be seen, adding a unique historical element to the natural surroundings.

Getting There
By Vehicle: From Kathmandu, it's approximately a 1-hour drive to Godawari. From the Godawari Bus Park, Marble Danda is about a 30–35 minute hike uphill. Alternatively, you can drive or ride a two-wheeler up to the base of the hill and then walk the remaining distance. Parking is available at the base.
Public Transport: Buses are available from Kathmandu to Godawari, followed by a short hike to the destination.
The main attraction is the easy-to-moderate hike to the ridge. There are two popular routes: Main Trail: A wider, well-maintained path suitable for families, casual hikers, and mountain bikers. It takes about 20-30 minutes to reach the top from the parking area.
Forest Trail: A narrower, more rugged trail that passes through dense forest and offers a more immersive nature experience.
Both trails provide excellent opportunities for photography, birdwatching, and simply enjoying the fresh mountain air.
Picnicking and Relaxation
Marble Danda is an ideal picnic spot. There are several open grassy areas where visitors can relax, have meals, and enjoy the serene environment away from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu city life.
