Since Sunday morning, Dhaka's lush parks, restaurants and eateries were chock-full of people celebrating Valentine's Day.

DHAKA,

The blazing red and yellow are the representative colors of Valentine's Day and Pohela Falgun, the first day of Spring of Bengali month Falgun, in Bangladesh. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's Pohela Falgun and Valentine's Day celebrations were on a smaller scale compared to those in previous years.

In Dhaka, instead of formal celebrations, people held open air chorus, folk dance and music, dance of indigenous people and recitation of poems on Sunday under the government's health guidelines and other directives including wearing face masks.

Since Sunday morning, Dhaka's lush parks, restaurants and eateries were chock-full of people celebrating Falgun and Valentine's Day, especially young couples, who celebrated their relationship and the joy of togetherness.

As always, girls were seen in "bashonti" (yellow or orange) colored sarees and adorning floral ornaments, while boys wore colorful panjabis to welcome the arrival of spring coincided with the Valentine's Day. They presented their beloved ones with candy, flowers, chocolates and other gifts to show the feelings of love and affection.

Since 2020, the Falgun occasion in Bangladesh has coincided with Valentine's Day on Feb.
