Inauguration Ceremony of Visit Nepal Year 2020

People gathered at Dasarath Rangasala Stadium to welcome the long awaited Visit Nepal Year 2020 (VNY 2020)

As the government of Nepal had previously announced that the year 2020 as the Visit Nepal Year, various programmes were organised to inaugurate the Visit Nepal Year 2020. On January 1, the ceremony was held at Dasarath Rangasala Stadium at evening. A huge number of people were gathered representing different their culture but one country. 

The programme kicked off with the Nepal Police and Nepal Army bands performing Nepal’s National Anthem, ‘Sayau Thunga Fulka Hami’. Also drumming the beat of national song, ‘Rato Ra Chandra Surya’, the bands gave an energetic start to the show.

 

People representing various religions, castes, ethnicity, and organizations performed a parade leaded by Laxmi Narayan Shilpakar aka ‘Jhanda Ba’. This parade gave the audience a glimpse of Nepal’s unity in diversity. It felt like the parade had all the people that represents the entirety Nepal.

Four helicopters flew above the stadium carrying the Nepal’s National Flags and Flag of Visit Nepal Year 2020. Superstar Rajesh Hamal gave the welcoming speech, wishing everyone a Happy New Year and welcoming the Visit Nepal Year 2020. 

The emcee for the evening, Sanjay Gupta and Subekshya Khadka lead the program further. Honorable Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Yogesh Bhattrai gave a speech on the plans for Visit Nepal Year 2020, the aims the government of Nepal has for this VNY and what Nepal can accomplish through promotion of tourism.

  

The legendary folk band Kutumba gave a remarkable performance in collaboration with around 300 other musicians. Project Sarangi, Dhime Baja from newar community, Panche baja performed together with Kutumba.

 

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari lit up the Eternal Flame and officially inaugurated the Visit Nepal Year 2020. After the lighting ceremony president gave a speech on the projects of Visit Nepal Year 2020.

The folkers surrounding the existence of yeti makes it mystical and magical. Yes, the mystical and magical Yeti is the official mascot for Visit Nepal Year 2020! Intotal 108 mascots was made and given to various artists to colour and paint which represent Nepal. 16 of the mascots of yeti was placed in the stadium. 

Foreign Dignitaries from India and China gave speech wishing good luck for the Visit Nepal Year 2020. They also said that they will help and support well to succeed the Visit Nepal Year 2020.   

After the speech various performer performs their art. The show of sword, Dandiya etc were performed. fireworks was held at the end wishing every own a Happy New Year and Visit Nepal Year 2020.
