Chef Shankhar brings extensive international and regional exposure, having developed his career in both Nepal and the United Kingdom. His impressive portfolio includes senior culinary roles at renowned establishments such as Radisson Blu Edwardian in London, Grand Hotel Kathmandu, Soaltee Westend Itahari, Basera Boutique Hotel, and The Malla Hotel. Most recently, he served as Executive Chef at Grand Hotel Kathmandu, where he successfully directed food production and patisserie operations, emphasizing quality excellence, creativity, and operational effectiveness.
Beyond hotel operations, Chef Shankhar has played a vital role in shaping future hospitality professionals through his contributions to education. He has held key academic and leadership positions at respected institutions including the Nepal Academy of Tourism & Hotel Management, Yeti International College, Himalayan WhiteHouse International College, and Prime College, actively supporting talent development and fostering strong links between academia and the hospitality industry.
In his new role at Best Western Plus Kathmandu, Chef Shankhar will lead all culinary functions across the hotel’s dining outlets, banqueting services, and event operations. His approach centers on enhancing guest dining experiences through inspired menu creation, rigorous food safety practices, team development, and the seamless fusion of international culinary techniques with authentic local ingredients.
