As the sun peeked through the clouds on a perfect autumn morning, my journey began from Chabhail to Sakhu, a picturesque village nestled in the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. It was a quarter to ten, and the anticipation of the hike ahead filled the air with excitement. The weather seemed to be in harmony with our spirits, setting the stage for an unforgettable adventure.
Under the cloudy sky, my companions and I embarked on our hike, relishing the first whispers of autumn carried by a gentle breeze. The path, though occasionally slippery, revealed a landscape adorned with vibrant hues of green and occasional bursts of colorful wildflowers. We embraced the challenges with enthusiasm, grateful for the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the splendor of nature.
Despite our slower pace and occasional breaks to catch our breath and soak in the scenery, we forged ahead, determined to reach our destination. The estimated time became irrelevant as we reveled in each step, cherishing the moments shared with newfound friends. Conversations flowed effortlessly, and laughter echoed through the hills as we discovered shared passions and stories of our travels.
Around two in the afternoon, we finally reached our destination, greeted by the shimmering beauty of a pristine lake. Mesmerized by its tranquility, we paused, allowing ourselves to be captivated by the peaceful ambiance. A sense of responsibility guided us as we cleaned the litter around us, leaving behind only footprints and taking with us memories etched in our hearts.
With the descent looming before us, we reluctantly bid farewell to the lake and resumed our journey. This time, we opted for a shorter path, a decision that rewarded us with a faster descent. Within a couple of hours, we found ourselves back on familiar terrain, savoring the sense of accomplishment that comes with conquering a challenging hike.
The entire experience felt like a perfect blend of adventure, connection, and rejuvenation. Manichud, located on the outskirts of the Kathmandu Valley, proved to be a haven for recreation and exploration. Its proximity to the city, a mere hour and a half away, made it an easily accessible escape for locals and travellers alike, longing for respite from the bustling urban life.
One of the notable attractions of Manichud was its abundance of temples, offering a glimpse into the rich cultural and religious heritage of the region. The majestic mountain range that surrounded the area served as a breathtaking backdrop, inspiring awe and a sense of humility. Exploring the neighboring villages provided us with a glimpse into the simple and harmonious lives of the locals, fostering a deep appreciation for community and unity.
Moreover, Manichud was a treasure trove of natural flora and fauna, with its verdant forests and diverse wildlife. The possibilities for recreation seemed endless, from organizing dry picnics amidst the wilderness to exhilarating hikes and even mountain bike or motorcycle rides. Adventurers could also partake in camping, allowing them to immerse themselves completely in the wonders of nature. For the more intrepid, bush hiking and venturing into the woods promised a thrilling exploration of uncharted territory.
As I reminisce about my journey from Chabhail to Sakhu, I am filled with gratitude for the experiences shared, the connections made, and the memories etched in my heart. Manichud, with its alluring beauty and diverse offerings, had provided everything we needed at that moment.
