A hidden Shangri-La in western Nepal

Tribeni Patan is an open grassland and pasture in the hills of Bajura at an elevation of 3840 meters. Tribeni was derived from the religious meaning, where a Tribeni Dham and Badi Malika temple can be found. As a result, this region is well known not only among trekkers, but also among pilgrims, researchers, and devotees.

This exotic and unique place is a temporary home for many shepherds from Bajura, Achham, and Kalikot who bring their cattle to graze in spring, autumn, and monsoon seasons. When the winter starts, they descend to their village. These large meadows that show the panoramic view of the surroundings, along with the peaceful grazing of sheep and horse definitely steal your heart and make you feel heavenly.

The Tribeni grassland is open and continuous, with a relatively flat grass area. small shrubs, herbs, wildflower, and grasses adorn the area that sprays the fragrance of nature. Not only that, but it also provides some breathtaking views of the Api and Saipal mountains. The hills surrounding Tribeni resemble a speck on the horizon between heaven and Nepal.

The verdant lush soil with many wild flowers makes the Tribeni appear to be a heaven on earth. The grassland is calm and out of this planet due to the curvature of the hills, and the formation of hills layer upon layer. Because of its position and the almighty Badhimalika’s power, the site delivers inner and exterior tranquility.

The hills touching the sky and the light streaming over the horizon enhance the beauty of the location. Even in the dead winter, the heat of the grassland is soothing. Lying on the grass, facing the sky, one will be filled with Bhadimalika’s kindness and power. The view is spectacular because of the lovely hills and mountains on top of them. The combination of green landscapes and snow-capped white mountains transforms the setting into a work of art.

During sunset, this untouched soothing place looks to be painted in the sky with multiple colors. Just below Tribeni Patan is Madithala, which at an altitude of 3600 meters, is devoid of any trees as well. After Madithala, you enter the Bhatejiula area, which is 3800 meters above sea level. The name Bhatejiula was derived from the abundant presence of rice like plants on the site.

If you are traveling to Madithala, make sure to visit Badimalika Temple too. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagwati and is located on Mallagiri peak at a height of 4200 meter. This holy site is also well known as a hill station with spectacular views of the surrounding hills and mountains. Apart from this the temple and the goddess itself carries many beliefs and myths behind themselves. Among them, one of the most popular beliefs of the Badimalika temple is that your wishes will be granted. The shrine is most popular during Janai Purnima and Ganga Dashera.

This region contains various sloping meadows with a wide variety of plants and animals. This subtropical alpine climatic zone is home to 11% of Nepal’s flowering plants. This land contains more than 200 different types of medicinal herbs, making it a natural hospital. The park is home to a variety of wild animals such as deer, wild boar, and snow leopards with the breathtaking views of snow capped mountains, Badimalika, Patan Budha, and beautiful landscapes. The hiking trail winds through remote villages in the far west, including Tribeni Badimalika, Natshwori, and Moura.

As a result, you will have time to experience village life in rural Nepal through a village trek.  The best favourable time to trek in this area is spring, summer, and autumn. While it is possible to trek during the monsoon season, the muddy and slippery roads, leeches, and being far from public amenities, as well as the difficulties of flight and weather, may pose a significant risk to your life. In a nutshell, Tribeni trail is a hidden Shangri-La which offers a unique experience to the trekkers.
