Set above the quiet waters of Begnas Lake, a new chapter in Nepal’s luxury hospitality story is beginning to unfold. The upcoming InterContinental Pokhara Resort continues the vision of bringing the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts experience to Nepal.
Developed by Shangri-La Hospitality and Lost Horizon P. Ltd., the project builds on a hospitality legacy that began in 1979 with Hotel Shangri-La Kathmandu. Led by the third generation of the Panday family in partnership with IHG Hotels & Resorts, the resort blends contemporary luxury with the natural landscape of Pokhara.

Perched on a forested hillside in Pachbhaiya, Kaski district, approximately 30 minutes from Pokhara city centre, the resort is designed to blend naturally into its surroundings. Overlooking terraced hills, distant Himalayan ranges and the quiet waters of Begnas Lake, the property draws inspiration from the rhythms of village life and the character of Nepal’s hill communities.
Its design language quietly celebrates the region’s identity. Ancient tribal motifs, rhododendron-inspired interiors and earthy natural palettes come together in a contemporary interpretation of Himalayan luxury. As Executive Director Pranay Panday notes:
“Design is our silent ambassador — it welcomes before a word is spoken and lingers long after the farewell.”

While much about the resort remains under wraps, the property is expected to feature a collection of Junior Suites and exclusive villas, blending spacious design with panoramic views and outdoor living spaces.
Beyond leisure, the resort is also positioning itself as one of Nepal’s most compelling destinations for luxury weddings, retreats and high-end corporate gatherings. Its 180 sq. m. banquet hall and dramatic Himalayan backdrop are expected to redefine destination events outside Kathmandu.

Adventure, too, lies within reach. The gateway to sections of the famed Annapurna Circuit trekking region begins within an hour of the resort, offering travellers the rare balance of wilderness and indulgence.
For now, InterContinental Pokhara Resort remains an elegant mystery: a secluded sanctuary slowly preparing to welcome the world. Yet even from this early glimpse, it is clear that the property aims to offer more than luxury accommodation. It seeks to create a destination deeply rooted in Nepal’s landscape, heritage and quiet grandeur.
