The sailung trek is a less popular Nepali Trek that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayas and a glimpse into the culture of the locals.

The Sailung trek is a quaint trek in Nepal. It offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayas and a glimpse into the culture of the locals. The Sailung region is located on the border of the districts of Ramecchap and Dolakha. Pasiban, Tek Sing, and Solambu are the three villages in Sailung.

The Sailung trek is one of the non-touristy treks in Nepal. The Sailung trek offers spectacular panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Mount Everest, Mount Lhotse, Mount Makalu, Rolwaling Himalaya Range, Annapurna Himalayan Range, Ganesh Himal, Mount Amadablam, and others.

The Sailung trek is not only for the Himalayas’ view but also for its culturally rich villages where many different types of cultures are present. The culture of the Pahadi people is incredibly fascinating and it can only be reached via this trekking trail. The trek’s main draws are the prevalence of typical Nepali villages, breathtaking views of the Himalayas, natural biodiversity, and the culture and history of the Tamang (Murmi) and the Sherpa people of the Himalayas.

The trek will provide you with a comprehensive picture of rural life, including farming, terraced landscapes, and local traditions.  You will also enjoy visiting 600-year-old Buddhist monasteries and driving through rhododendron, oak, and pine forests, which are home to rare animals such as barking deer.

The Sailung Peak is the trek’s highest point. It is a sacred site for Buddhist communities, located at an elevation of 3146m.

After a 6-7 hour drive from Kathmandu, the Sailung trek begins at Dolakha. The journey leads through the beautiful Lamche Ahal, Thulo Sailung Khola, Kharka Village, Doramba Gompa, Gurase Bhanjyang, Bholung Village, Timal, and then overland to Kathmandu via Godavari.

A minimum of three weeks’ vacation and good physical fitness are required for Sailung Timal trekking. Another highlight of Sailung Trekking is meeting several different ethnic people and learning about their cultures, and lifestyles.

People who are interested in visiting a non-tourist area for nature only, especially enjoy this area. The mesmerising beauty of nature is therapeutic. It will help you relax and might even lend you a new horizon of thinking.
