Exciting Nepalese road through the lush green hills of the Lower Himalayan Range

Siddhartha Highway is one of the most exciting Nepalese roads leading from Pokhara through the green hills of Lower Himalayan (or Mahabharata Range) up to the Terai plains bordering with India. Most of the travelers using this route are likely to be the visitors wanting to travel between the two countries - India and Nepal or are on their way to the birth of Lord Buddha, Lumbini. The highway offers mountain ridges overgrown with lush jungles, impressive rice fields on steep mountain slopes, and deep valleys. This highway, also known as H10, is the shortest route from Pokhara to the Indian border - Sunauli. This 182 km route from the terai region in southern Nepal to the mountain region in northern Nepal started its construction work in 1964 and was completed in the year 1971.

Siddhartha highway, named after Lord Buddha (Siddhartha Gautam), covering crisscross routes, and a descent brake testing path is not a usual path taken to reach Pokhara but a fascinating one to travel for nature lovers. Traveling through this highway, one can experience the local and classical Nepalese culture and the homes on the hillside as one of the major attractions on this route. Also, one can enjoy the nature surrounding the way with views like Ramdi Khola and Kali Gandaki river - a boom to watch. Dramatic scenes on the highway are a great fascination for the travelers.

This hairpin twisting road is one of the top five busiest highways of Nepal. The road is used mostly for the transportation of food and agricultural products. The highway consists of 34 bridges including the longest bridge over the Kali Gandaki River in Ramdi. The attractive destinations of this highway are Butwal, Tansen, Waling, Syangja, and Pokhara.
