Mixing Happiness: Hyatt Place Hosted Its Annual Cake Mixing Ceremony

Hyatt Place Kathmandu has embraced this annual familial tradition, symbolic of unity, as its own occasion to spread goodwill among the community.

As the festive season nears, Hyatt Place hosted Mixing Happiness, its annual cake mixing ceremony on November 2. The event saw participation from media, social influencers, business associates, ambassadors and friends from and outside Nepal. 

With heads bearing apron caps and gloved hands, the guests mixed a wide assortment of fruits and dry fruits including berries, raisins, cashew, figs, dates and more in alcohol. 

The mix is prepared in anticipation of Christmas when—upon fermentation—it is used to bake the Christmas fruitcake. The history of the ceremony dates back to several centuries in Europe. The ingredients are fermented so that they develop a distinct christmas-y aroma and taste. Hyatt Place has embraced this annual familial tradition, symbolic of unity, as its own occasion to spread goodwill among the community.
