To address the scarcity of trained labour in the tourism industry, it is hoped that the tourism industry would be revived by this skill development project.
On Thursday afternoon, the Nepal Association of Tour & Travel Agents (NATTA) formally concluded its Sustainable Tourism for Livelihood Recovery Project (STLRP). It was a training program, which began in November with the goal of re-skilling and upskilling in the hospitality industry.
In the context of the global outbreak of Covid-19, the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) has started its essential training programs for skilled manpower, and enhancing the capacity of the old manpower to re-operate the tourism business of Nepal in all seven provinces last month, with the support of UNDP under the Nepal Tourism Board.
The training programs included "Airlines Ticketing", "Tour Product Development", and "Customer Service Training" which were held at Biratnagar of Province-1, Simara of Madhesh Province, Kathmandu of Bagmati Province, Pokhara of Gandaki Province, Bhairahawa of Lumbini Province, and Nepalgunj of Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province. This training program has benefitted up to 430 participants. To address the scarcity of trained labour in the tourism industry, it is hoped that the tourism industry would be revived.
The event was officially started by the "Khada Ceremony" by presenting the khada to the Chief Guest Mr. Suresh Adhikari (Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation), Special Guest Dr. Dhananjay Regmi (CEO, NTB, NPD, STLRP), and the Resident Representative of UNDP Nepal Ayshanie Medagangoda Labe by the President of NATTA Ramesh Thapa and Secretary General of NATTA Kumar Mani Thapaliya. Thapaliya initiated the event by making brief remarks regarding the initiative, Sustainable Tourism for Livelihood Recovery Project (STLRP). Then, the ceremony was followed by lighting the lamp by the chief guest in the presence of other respected guests.
At this ceremony, the training manual jointly published by NATTA and Nepal Tourism Board was also unveiled, with the four main guests signing the manual. Then, the program was smoothly carried forward by short remarks and presentations by the respected guests and by the Training Co-Ordinator of NATTA.
After the brief speeches and remarks, the Chief Guest, Special Guest, and NATTA President awarded certificates to the trainer, each Province & Chapter Representative, Supervisors, and participants. Mr. Thapa formally concluded the event with the commitment of working together again to develop human resources and skilled labor in the tourism industry.
